Welcome to Elvaston Class!
We’re an enthusiastic and vibrant KS3 class of 11 students.
In our class, we embrace diversity and celebrate all students' unique abilities and talents. We believe that every individual has the potential to thrive and make positive progress at their own pace. We strive to create a warm and nurturing environment where kindness, empathy and respect for one another are at the core of everything we do. Each student's voice is valued, and we encourage active participation knowing that every contribution is significant. We celebrate everyone's achievements and work together as a team to earn “Class Dojos”. When we earn enough “Dojos”, students can decide what they want to buy from the Dojo Shop. This could range from a sticker, a prize box choice or even a certificate. Pupils can earn “Class Dojo” points for individual achievements by demonstrating the Bennerley Attitudes. At the end of the week, we have a student of a week assembly in class.
In Elvaston class, we foster a love for learning and exploration. We will be investigating a range of topics this year. Our curriculum incorporates; enrichment activities, recognising and expressing our emotions, keeping safe online, visits out in the community, Forest School and PE. Maths, English, Science and PSHE are our core subjects that focus on developing fundamental skills.
In our class, we are a family – a community that cares for one another, celebrates each other's successes and support each other through setbacks. Together, we aim to inspire, uplift and empower each other to embrace our potential and make a positive impact to the school and wider community.

Beyond Bennerley – Tuesday Afternoons.

04/04/25 Easter Fun! On our last day of term we enjoyed playing some Easter games such as ‘pin’ the tail on the bunny, egg and spoon races and an Easter Egg hunt! We also spent lots of time out in the sunshine and watched Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Special THANK YOU to one of our Elvaston students and their lovely generous family for gifting all of the Elvastonians with an Easter goody bag each and the teaching staff too! 03/04/25 Afternoon at Elvaston Castle: Our Elvastonians have been working hard in D&T over the past few weeks to build a Viking longship that they could ‘sail’ on the stream at Elvaston Castle. Everyone worked really hard on their boats and we think they did an incredible job! We had such a lovely time walking around Elvaston Castle in the beautiful sunshine; exploring the tranquil Walled Garden, admiring the enormity of the Canadian Redwood trees and of course sampling some delights from the café!
19/03/25 Exploring the Recycle Bin Lorries: We were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to explore some new recycle bin lorries. We enjoyed pressing the button to empty the bins, sitting in the driving seat and pressing the VERY loud horn! Our school had won a competition to name the new lorries
06/03/25 World Book Day: How fabulous do our Elvastonians look in their costumes?! We had fun sharing our favourite books, WBD activities and building Viking longships that were big enough to fit a person in! We decorated our door based on our class text The Saga of Erik the Viking...you may be able to spot some familiar ‘Viking’s’ voyaging on our boat!
11.02.25 - Elvaston class enjoyed a lovely trip to Lanes Farm in Risley as part of the Beyond Bennerley curriculum. We fed the animals and imagined what it would be like to be a farmer and keep farm animals.
04/02/2025 Beyond Bennerley: We visited Pets at Home to research the cost of having a pet. We loved seeing all the animals they have in there. We also enjoyed trying out a few of the pet toys and created a band of squeaking and honking!
20/12/24 Christmas karaoke! Our superstar Elvastonians belted out some amazing Christmas and pop classics! 🎤🎶
18/12/24 Christmas Dinner Day!
17/12/24 Santa came to visit and gave us all a present! 🎅
6/12/24 We enjoyed watching The Snowman and listening to the amazing live orchestra.
05/12/24 We went to watch Paddington in Peru at Showcase cinema - we loved it!
26/11/24 We enjoyed learning how to play badminton and table tennis at the Rutland Sports Centre. We used balloons to help us with our hand eye coordination...and had fun popping them after!

19/11/24 Forest School: We had lots of snowy fun in Forest School! At the end we warmed up by the fire, enjoyed a hot chocolate and tortilla pizza calzone, which we cooked over the fire.
