Bennerley Fields School - Local Governing Body

Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.

What do governors do?

Key roles of governors:

• To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
• To hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
• To oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent

They also carry out a number of other important duties, which include:

• Hearing appeals and grievances
• Approving a range of policies in school
• Conducting monitoring visits including meetings and learning walks
• Making sure school buildings are welcoming and safe
• Celebrating success with both pupils and staff
