Nurture. Support. Aspire. Achieve.

4AS

We had a wonderful time at our prom, celebrating our special evening.

We love Wednesday afternoons in Forest School with Becky.

4AS thought the ice-creams were delicious.

We have had a lovely time this morning on the obstacle course.

We had a wonderful learning experience in our R.E day. Our theme was ‘How should we care for the world and why does it matter?’

In the morning we learnt about Mother Theresa and how she travelled the world caring for people.
After learning about Dr Barnado, we made dens to see what it was like for the orphans that lived on the streets whom Dr Barnado cared about and when on to set up homes so they could have food and shelter.

In the afternoon we worked together as a team, playing various games that needed us to think about one another and work together instead of just focusing on our own goals.

4AS had a fantastic time investigating how sound travelled through water.

End of Spring term update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Here we are at the end of yet another busy term! We have had lots of fun getting out in the community, starting our Enterprise initiative and the many aspects of hands-on learning we have engaged with.

Just a few things to inform you about for next term;

We have a change with the timetable, some lessons have changed days to accommodate different activities we have planned please see-enclosed timetable.

As you are aware, RSE is relationship and sex education stage 2; further information can be found on the school website/parents, relationship and sex education.

In maths we are learning about shapes, both 2D and 3D. This will then link to position and direction. To end the term we will be revisiting multiplication and division.

The English next will be the ‘Lion Inside’ a story about overcoming worries and change. We will use this text to link to our comprehension and a variety of writing skills.

We will be completing our Gateway challenge, we have been working on the Gateway Award throughout the year and this will be our final part of the Award. Each week students will be encouraged to complete some simple challenges and asking for a small amount of money to sponsor them with these, at the end of term we will then use the sponsor money (more information nearer the time) to have a class treat to celebrate their successes.

In addition, after working hard on making things as part of Enterprise we will be selling all items made on 25th May and inviting parents along. All classes will keep their own profits and decide together as a class how they want to spend the money .

And finally, we will be updating our new school website termly so you can now see what we are up to each term by visiting us on there. Please go on to pupil tab, classes, 4AS.

Have a great Easter.

Thanks for your continued support,

The 4AS team

First of all we would like to say Kirsty has been part of our team for the past two terms and has been a great asset, building fantastic relationships with staff and pupils. Chris is now part of a different team and has also settled in well.

This term we have been developing our shopping skills and identifying what items we can purchase at which shops. This is part of our Beyond Bennerley curriculum which is invaluable for our students to transfer numeracy skills which have been learned in the classroom to the community in a functional way. Alongside the numeracy, social skills are being developed further and an enjoyable experience for all.
