I report to the Governing Body on how the school is being managed
and led. I meet regularly with Pauline Wensley our Chair, and all other
Governors as they monitor specific parts of school performance.
I have been at Bennerley Fields School nearly 10 years now, teaching
in KS3. I have been lead teacher for numeracy, but am now leading Literacy.
I trained as a teacher of the deaf so, although now slightly rusty am
still OK at sign language. Out of school I have always been involved in
Girl Guiding and have run a Brownie Unit local to me for 16 years. I am also
on the Church council. As well as that I am kept busy with three grown children
now just going or finishing at University in various parts of the country.
I have been staff governor for the last couple of years. After retiring at the
end of last term I was given the opportunity to remain a governor. I welcomed
keeping this link with the school as I have worked happily there for many
years and this was a way of keeping in contact and supporting them
in the exciting changes that are taking place. I live in Long Eaton with my
husband, who has also retired and two chickens. I have two children who
have long since flown the nest, so we will be doing lots of travelling to see
them in our retirement. I enjoy walking, trying to keep fit and singing. I am
not particularly good at but last January I joined the Rock Choir in Beeston
and really enjoy singing with other people. I look forward to continuing to
work with the school and to see our community thrive.
I am married with two children - Jess who is at university in Plymouth
and Jacob who has just left KS4 at Bennerley Fields. We live in Waingroves
which in between Ripley and Heanor. I qualified as a Nursery Nurse
after leaving school and have always worked with children; for the
last 15 years with pre-school children with special educational needs.
I really enjoy spending time with my family and friends, travelling
and walking our family dog.
I have been working at Bennerley Fields for the past 7 years. I currently
teach as part of key stage 4 in the complex class, where we use the
TEACCH approach. I feel very fortunate to work as part of such
a fantastic and supportive team with truly incredible students.
Appointed March 2018
I am an ex-pupil of Bennerley Fields and in 2012 I was head boy.
This school is important to me as it helped me to believe in myself
and grow in confidence. I did part of my apprenticeship training in our
school kitchen and now I work full time at McDonalds. I like visiting
the school and in my spare time I enjoy playing the drums and my Xbox.
Clerk to Governors
As well as Clerk to the Governors I have been working in the school
office since the beginning of January 2014. I am also the school Fundraiser
and am involved with the Friends Bennerley Fields. I really enjoy all
aspects of my roles at the school. It is a great place to work!
