Ladybirds (KS1 & KS2)
We are a class of 7 pupils, a mix of year 1 and 2. We are supported by our teachers Sue and Leanne and our teaching assistants, Kay, Chantelle and Sue.
We explore a wide range of exciting and multi- sensory learning activities, which provide inspiration to engage us in the world around us and build on our current skills and knowledge.
We use a range of signing and symbols to support our communication and through songs, rhymes and sensory stories we are learning to explore and interact together.
During the week we access a range of early Literacy, Numeracy and PSHE activities together, using exciting topics to support and extend our learning.
Our teachers support our readiness for learning through a range of sensory experiences. These include peer massage, sensory circuit and sensory programs such as Tac Pac and Knill.
We use music to calm and mark the key routines of the day. This helps us develop a sense of rhythm, using familiar actions and words alongside our language.
We are given daily opportunities to develop our own independence with self help skills and independent learning.
On alternate Friday afternoons we go to the sensory swimming pool at Ilkeston where we enjoy the water, music and lights.
